Frame Ensemble

Frame Ensemble function as a customizable ensemble, adaptable to suit individual preferences. It presents an experimental approach to cloth hanging, allowing garments to be casually draped onto the rack without the necessity for precise placement, or intentionally hung to complete the ensemble and transform it into a sculptural focal point.

This work has won 2024 Silver Muse Design Awards.

Inspired by the familiar sight of chairs adorned with clothes in domestic settings, my aim is to create a design that serves as an alternative to the chair. This design encourages users to either casually toss their clothes onto the rack without the need for precise arrangement or meticulously hang them to elevate the act of cloth placement into a sculptural gesture.

Project Intension

Wire studies. I initially explored intricate, single-piece sculptural designs before transitioning to multiple simpler forms to enhance the concept of customization of individuals.

Exploration of shapes, arrangement and line weight in Rhino.

Frame Ensemble are composed with three simple and abstract free standing forms: low, middle and tall. Those heights satisfy different hanging needs and offer users extensive compositional options.

The three components can be arranged and combined in any configuration: vertically, horizontally, connected, or individually placed. They have the potential to create a vertical hanging sculpture with a compact square footprint, or transform into a linear structure serving as a room divider, with cloth draped over them.

Frame ensemble in interior setting. Their versatility allows for endless combinations to suit various interior settings and individual preferences, ensuring they seamlessly integrate without dominating the space with their own distinct personalities.
