Half & Half
Half & Half is a sculptural exploration of repetition, duality, and spatial dialogue. Composed of two identical forms—one in maple, the other in walnut—the work investigates how subtle shifts in material and arrangement can create open-ended relationships between object, space, and viewer. While the forms suggest familiar functions, their true intent lies in the act of reconfiguration: an invitation to play, to engage, and to reconsider how we live with and around objects.
By foregrounding contrast within sameness, Half & Half reflects on modularity not as a system of efficiency, but as a poetic condition—where meaning emerges through movement, alignment, and the quiet tension between structure and variation.
Maple, Walnut
2025
The interplay between the warm, rich walnut and the light, soft maple creates a subtle visual contrast, emphasizing both materiality and form.
Designed as versatile objects, each piece functions independently as a stool or side table.
The form features a flat back, allowing the pieces to align seamlessly either against a wall or with one another.
When stacked vertically, they transform into a taller pedestal for display or occasional use. When placed back-to-back, they create a larger, unified surface suitable for use as a coffee table or bench.
Balancing sculptural elegance with everyday utility, Half & Half invites users to reconfigure and adapt the pieces to suit changing needs and spaces.
